Latest Tottenham transfer rumours: Spurs in Cantwell race, Bale blow, Smalling wanted
The latest transfer news and rumours as Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho looks ahead to bolstering his squad in the summer transfer window
Tottenham Hotspur boosted their hopes of securing Champions League football for next season with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Aston Villa at Villa Park on Sunday afternoon.
After seeing Villa defender Bjorn Engels draw the home side level with a thumping header, which cancelled out Heung-Min Son's rebounded penalty, it looked as though Spurs were going to be forced to settle for a point and lose ground in the race for the top-four.

But an Engels error allowed Son to burst through on goal in the 94th minute and finish with aplomb to seal a dramatic victory.
The win has given Spurs a huge chance of potentially clambering their way into the top-four before the season is out, meaning Jose Mourinho - the Tottenham boss - could be in need of significantly adding to his squad in the summer.
With that in mind, here is a round-up of the very latest Tottenham transfer rumours.
Tottenham have fallen behind Premier League table-toppers Liverpool in the race to sign Norwich City midfielder Todd Cantwell.
The are reporting that the Reds are leading a four-way chase to land the 21-year-old, who is attracting interest from Manchester City and Manchester United alongside Jurgen Klopp's side and Spurs.
Cantwell has enjoyed an excellent debut season in the Premier League this term scoring six times, as well as registering two assists.
Should Spurs be able to get their noses back in front in the race to land the midfield man, it could be a hat-trick of signings they make in the summer where Norwich are concerned, with the club also looking at Max Aarons and Ben Godfrey.
Welsh wizard Gareth Bale will not be returning to Tottenham Hotspur from Real Madrid, according to Spanish football expert Guillem Balague.
The journalist has confirmed that Bale, who left Spurs back in 2013, is unlikely to return to the Premier League, with a move abroad the most likely outcome, report .
Speaking to Genting Bet, Balague said: "If going to China was something that attracted Gareth Bale at the time, who’s to say that maybe he gets attracted by another foreign approach.
"I don’t think he’ll go back to the Premier League so now it’s a matter of seeing the chess game that’s going to be produced now."
